# Whole-site Squarespace image recovery | Image Tools

> Recover images from a public Squarespace website in their largest publicly available source-format renditions, bypassing Squarespace's usual WebP delivery. Check your site and review the images found for free, then purchase a one-time, seven-day recovery pass to download them in private ZIP files.

## What it does

Squarespace commonly delivers images in WebP format, even when they were originally uploaded as JPEG or PNG. Downloading images directly from a Squarespace website may therefore give you WebP files rather than the source formats.

Image Tools bypasses WebP delivery to retrieve the largest publicly available source rendition of each recoverable image, usually in JPEG or PNG format.

Rather than converting delivered WebP images back to JPEG or PNG, Image Tools retrieves the available source-format files. These are not necessarily identical to the original uploads.

## How it works

1. Enter a public Squarespace website address.
2. Image Tools confirms the Squarespace website and checks accessible pages listed in its public sitemap.
3. Review the detected images and the exact recovery price for free.
4. Purchase a recovery pass to download the images. Image Tools prepares a private ZIP containing the largest available source rendition of each recoverable image.
5. Download the completed ZIP when it is ready. You can leave the website while your recovery is being prepared.

No Squarespace login, password or website administrator access is required. Image Tools cannot edit or delete website content.

## What is included

Recovery covers images found on accessible public pages listed in the website's sitemap. Images used on multiple pages are included only once.

After purchase, customers can also add eligible public pages outside the sitemap, including SEO-hidden pages. Images recovered from these additional pages are prepared in a separate ZIP.

Password-protected pages and files held exclusively in the Squarespace Asset Library cannot be recovered from the public website.

## Pricing and pass duration

Checking a site and reviewing the images found is free. You only need to pay if you want to download the recovered images.

The current one-time pricing bands are:

- Up to 500 images: GBP 19
- Up to 2,000 images: GBP 29
- Up to 5,000 images: GBP 49
- Up to 10,000 images: GBP 79

Larger recoveries receive a tailored quote. Prices are shown in GBP; Stripe may offer local-currency payment at checkout where available.

Each purchase provides a seven-day recovery pass. This is a one-time payment, not a recurring subscription.

During the seven-day period, customers can:

- Refresh the sitemap to discover new or changed images.
- Add eligible public pages outside the sitemap.
- Generate replacement ZIP files.

The price is set by the first discovery. During an active recovery pass, sitemap refreshes and eligible public pages added outside the sitemap are included at no extra cost, even if the image count later exceeds the original price band. Image Tools does not charge an automatic upgrade during the pass. After the pass ends, a new recovery is priced from a new discovery.

Each recovery set keeps its latest ZIP. It remains downloadable until three days after the recovery pass ends, even if it was created earlier. Creating a replacement ZIP removes access to the earlier ZIP for that recovery set.

## Accounts

An Image Tools account is optional. Customers can check a site, purchase a recovery pass and download their images without creating an account.

Creating or signing in to an account after purchase using the checkout email allows customers to retain access to their recovery, return from another browser or device, and view saved sites in My recoveries.

## File quality and limitations

ZIP files contain the largest source renditions Squarespace makes publicly available. These are usually in the images' original formats, such as JPEG or PNG, but are not guaranteed to be the exact uploaded files.

Squarespace may have resized, compressed or otherwise processed the images. The largest available rendition can vary between images.

Image Tools can only recover images that are publicly accessible through the website. It cannot retrieve private files or guarantee recovery of every image originally uploaded to Squarespace.

## When to use whole-site recovery

- Recover JPEG or PNG renditions of Squarespace images normally delivered to visitors as WebP.
- Download publicly accessible website images when the original uploaded files are no longer available.
- Back up recoverable images before redesigning, migrating or decommissioning a Squarespace website.
- Recover images from a website without requiring Squarespace administrator access.
- Collect images from public pages, including eligible pages outside the sitemap, into downloadable ZIP files.
